The Chamber of Mines of the Philippines is holding a three-day Mining Conference and Exhibition at the Sofitel Hotel in Pasay City. The event, attended by government officials and representatives of local and foreign mining corporations were apparently oblivious to the barrage of protesters outside the five-star hotel this morning.

National alliance of indigenous peoples, Kalipunan ng mga Katutubong Mamamayan ng Pilipinas (KAMP), decries the arrest and continued detention of Ernesto “Bolet” Bubod, a Kalanguya-Igorot, and resident of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija.

In a gesture of 'inter-tribal solidarity', indigneous peoples join in the relief missions for typhoon victims. Dubbed “Lingkod Katribu, Tulong para sa mga Katutubong biktima ng Trahedya,” indigenous peoples organizations along with other groups pool resources to provide relief for 2,000 Dumagat and Remontado peoples affected by the typhoons in Tanay, Rizal. Six indigenous communities in Tanay are barely reached by rescue and relief missions and the overflowed river is making land transportation difficult.

Militant indigenous people and environmentalist organization hold a picket rally at the office of San Roque Multi-purpose Project (SMRP) in Makati to protest against the incompetence and negligence of the company that lead to the massive flooding in Pangasinan and other town in central luzon.
